Dexter WWTP Improvements
Project Overview
The City of Dexter had major components at its wastewater treatment plant on the verge of failure. There was a sense of urgency to expedite an improvement project since some of the critical equipment had exceeded its useful life. New influent pumps and tertiary filters were needed along with technology updates to improve the treatment capabilities of the headworks equipment (grit removal and screening). Tertiary filtration equipment was also used to meet more stringent effluent limits.
F&V provided design, bid, construction phase engineering, and FVC provided construction management services for the progressive design-build project.
The upgrades reduced the amount of rags and grit entering the treatment process, while also reducing the wear and tear on pumps and other equipment. Digestion was improved through increasing digester capacity and gas production efficiency.
